Ingredients

  • For the chocolate dough:
  • 2 cups of wheat flour

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1 teaspoon powdered yeast

  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • 3/4 cup of milk

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • For the vanilla dough:
  • 2 cups of wheat flour

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1 teaspoon powdered yeast

  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • 3/4 cup of milk

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Grease and flour a round cake tin of about 23 cm in diameter.
  • Prepare the chocolate dough: In a bowl, mix the wheat flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix milk, vegetable oil, eggs and vanilla extract for the chocolate mass.
  • Combine the liquid and dry ingredients of the chocolate dough, mixing until you get a homogeneous dough.
  • Prepare the vanilla dough in the same way: In a bowl, mix the wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix milk, vegetable oil, eggs and vanilla extract for vanilla dough.
  • Combine the liquid and dry ingredients for the vanilla batter, mixing well.
  • To assemble the cake, drop alternating spoonfuls of the chocolate and vanilla batter into the prepared pan, creating a blended effect.
  • After placing all the spoonfuls of dough, use a knife or a toothpick to make smooth movements in the dough, creating the merged effect.
  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the tin for a few minutes before unmolding.
Then let the cake cool completely on a wire rack.
  • You can sprinkle icing sugar over the top of the cake before serving, if desired.
