Mug cake is a practical and quick cake recipe that can be made individually in a mug in the microwave.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons wheat flour

  • 4 tablespoons of sugar

  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

  • A bit of salt

  • 3 tablespoons of milk

  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon chopped chocolate or chocolate chips (optional)

Directions

  • In a mug large enough to hold the cake batter, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
  • Add the milk, vegetable oil and vanilla extract to the dry mixture in the mug. 
    Stir well with a fork or spoon until the dough is well combined and there are no more lumps.
  • If you want to add chopped chocolate or chocolate chips for an extra kick of flavor, mix them into the batter.
  • Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for about 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes. 
    Baking time may vary depending on the power of your microwave, so be careful not to overcook the cake.
  • Carefully remove the mug from the microwave as it will be hot. 
    Let the cake cool down a bit before eating.
  • You can eat the mug cake directly from the mug, or turn it out onto a plate if you prefer. 
    If you wish, you can also add extra toppings such as chocolate sauce, whipped cream or ice cream.
