Netflix's new spy series 'Black Doves' has been renewed for season 2

The spy series, Black Dovesis about to premiere its first season in Netflix later this year, and the streamer has already announced that has been renewed for a second season.

He six-episode spy thriller It stars Keira Knightley (Boston Stranger, The Imitation Game) y Ben Whishaw (This Is Going to Hurt, A Very English Scandal) as an unlikely duo of spies and assassins.

This series seems to be made for those who like mystery, intrigue, high-risk action, British ingenuity, knife fights and of course, Christmas, as its plot is set during the December holiday season.

The rest of the cast is made up of Sarah Lancashire, Andrew Who, Adeel Akhtar, Finn Bennett, Luther Fordy Tracey Ullman.

Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project) is the creator and screenwriter of Black Doves. Alex Gabassi (The Crown) y Lisa Gunning (The Power) are the directors.

According to information shared by the streamer, Knightley plays Helen Webb, a witty, down-to-earth and dedicated wife and mother, and a professional spy. For a decade, she has been passing on her husband's secrets – a politician – to the shadowy organization she works for: the Black Doves. When her secret lover Jason (Andrew Koji) is murdered, her spymaster, the enigmatic Reed (Sarah Lancashire), calls on Helen's old friend to keep her safe.

Wishaw, meanwhile, is Sam Young, a stylish, champagne-swilling assassin. But, having been out of the picture since a botched job with disastrous consequences, he has returned home to a London that has moved on without him. As his past threatens to catch up with him, his task is to protect Helen as she investigates who killed Jason and why.

“Together they embark on a mission that will lead them to uncover a vast, interconnected conspiracy that links London’s shady underworld to an impending geopolitical crisis and leads them to question the cost of the moral choices they have made.”

Executive producers include Barton, Jane Featherstone, Chris Fry, and Knightley.

At the Edinburgh TV Festival, taking place this week, Netflix announced that the spy series has been renewed for a second season (via Netflix).
