Paramount Pictures continues the marketing campaign of Mean Girlsa new film adaptation of the musical of the same name – a musical that is in turn an adaptation of the 2004 film – that is preparing for its theatrical release in January 2024.
The latest is a new group poster with glimpses of the main cast: Renee Rapp (The Sex Lives of College Girls) as Queen Bee Regina George, Angourie Rice (Mare of Easttown, The Last Thing He Told Me) as Cady, Bebe Wood (Love, Victor, The Real O’Neals, The New Normal) da vida a Gretchen, avantika (The Sex Lives of College Girls) characterizes Karen, Auli'i Cravalho (Crush, All Together Now) is Janis, Jaquel Spivey It's Damian, and Christopher Briney (The Summer I Turned Pretty) is Aaron. As a curious fact, Rapp played Regina George in the Broadway musical.
The new film is directed by Arturo Pérez Jr.y Samantha Jaynewith a script Tina Fey (which also adapted the script from the original film and the Broadway musical). The co-directors worked together behind the scenes on the short films Less Than One, Vanity, Dan Miller y Quarter Life Poetry: Poems for the Young, Broke & Hangry. Mean Girls marks Jayne's debut as a feature film director.
In addition to adapting the script, Fey reprises her role as Ms. Norbury, with Tim Meadows playing Director Duvall again, just like in the 2004 film. We also see the two of them in the official poster that you find at the end of this note.
The rest of the cast also includes another actress who participated in the Broadway musical, Ashley Park (Emily in Paris, Joy Ride), in a new role since in the staging she plays Gretchen, Busy Philipps (Cougar Town, Vice Principals) como Mrs. George, Jenna Fischer (The Office) like Cady's mom, Jon Hamm (The Morning Show, Mad Men) like Coach Carr, Mahi Alam como Kevin Ganatra, y Connor Ratliff like Mr. Rapp.
Mean Girls ruled out its original exclusive release on Paramount Plus, and will have traditional distribution in theaters, premiering on the big screen on January 12, 2024.
