Lionsgate and Roadside Attraccins started the psychological thriller marketing campaign The Surferof the director Lorcan finnegan (Vivarium), and the protagonist Nicolas Cage (Longlegs, Pig, Mandy).

The advance reveals that madness awaits us, with a plot in which Cage plays a surfer in Australia who loses his head after a gang of surfers of the town decides to play with him. And they succeed. The images show Cage putting a rat in the throat of one of them.
In addition to Cage, the cast makes it up Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck, FBI: Most Wanted), Nic Cassim (Plum, The Messenger), Slaves tppsell (The Artful Dodger), Alexander Bertrand (Operation Buffalo), Justin Rosniak (Wolf Like Me, Mr. Inbetween), Rahel Romahn (Wolf Like Me), Find Little (Yellowstone, Those Who Wished Me Dead) y Charlotte Maggi (Rebel Moon).
Official synopsis:
“When a man (Nicolas Cage) returns to his hometown on Australia beach, many years after having built a life for himself in the US, he is humiliated in front of his teenage son by a local gang of surfers who claim the strict property of the isolated beach of his childhood. Wounded, “the surfer” decides to remain on the beach and declares the war to those who control the bay. But as the conflict intensifies, the bets come out of control and take “the surfer” to the edge of his sanity. “

The feature film was shot in Western Australia in places such as Margaret River, Busselton and Perth.
In May 2024 he celebrated his World Cup premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, to later take a tour of festivals such as BFI London, Taormina Film Fest, Sao Paulo Film Fest, among others. This weekend will go to the Glasgow Film Festival, and next week it will be screened at the SXSW Festival as part of the official selection of the festival that takes place in Austin, Texas.
