That is the warning with which Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures present the thriller teaser trailer Veritystarring Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada 2), Dakota Johnson (Materialists) y Josh Hartnett (Trap).
It is an adaptation of the bestseller by Colleen Hooverdescribed as a gothic and psychosexual thriller in the vein of Rebecca y Gone Girl.
This is Hoover's fourth novel to be adapted to film in the last two years, following in the footsteps of It Ends With Us, Reminders of Himy Regretting You.
In Verity: The shadow of a deceptionfor its title in our region, Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a novelist with financial difficulties who is hired to finish the latest book by bestselling author Verity Crawford, played by Hathaway, after an accident leaves her unable to complete it. While Lowen works on the project, he discovers a disturbing unfinished manuscript that raises questions about the mental stability of Verity, whose husband, Jeremy Crawford (Hartnett), is the one who hires Lowen to finish his novel.
The rest of the cast completes it Brady Wagner, Asel Swango (Power Book II: Ghost), Daniel Echevarria (Daredevil: Born Again), Ismael Cruz Cordova (The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power), y Michael Abbott Jr. (The Drama).

Michael Showalter (The Idea of You, The Dropout) directs the feature film with a script written by Nick Antosca (Channel Zero, The Act).
Producers are Antosca and Alex Hedlund of Eat the Cat, Showalter and Jordana Mollick of Semi-Formal Productions, Hathaway of Somewhere Pictures, Hoover and Shiny Penny Staey Sher of Heartbones Entertainment. Johnson executive produces alongside Lauren Levine.
Hoover's novel was published independently in 2018 and became a bestselling phenomenon, later acquired in 2021 by Grand Central Publishing. In 2023 alone it sold more than a million copies.
By the way, this is one of several film projects we'll be seeing Hathaway in this year.
