Hulu is preparing to premiere this year the third season of the acclaimed series whodunit Only Murders in the Buildingwhich started filming last January.
The most recent news confirms the signing of three new cast members: Don Darryl Rivera (Let the Right One In), Allison Guinn (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), y Gerald Caesar (Dear Evan Hansen) via Deadline. The details of her roles have not been specified.
They three add to the stars of the series, Steve Martin, Martin Short y Selena Gomezwho are back playing our favorite trio true crime podcast hosts, as well as new Season 3 additions, Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Avengers: Endgame), Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy, Cabin in the Woods), Ashley Park (Emily in Paris, Joy Ride), and the iconic Meryl Streep.
OMIT usually develops most of its plot inside the Arconia building, although for the third season, we will be moving to other places, such as Broadway, where Oliver Putnam (Short) operates as theater director, while Charles-Haden Savage (Martin), is one of the cast members of his play. For his part, Ben Glenroy (Rudd) is a petulant theater actor who (SPOILER ALERT) in the season two finale we see him losing his life and becoming the most recent victim in history.
Much of the plot of season 3 will focus on what happened to his character.
ABOUT ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING
The comedy mystery ‘whodunit’, created by Martin and John Hoffmanfocuses on Charles, Oliver and Mabel (Martin, Short, Gomez), true crime buffs, whose enthusiasm is put to the test in the first season, when a resident of the Arconia building located on the Upper West Side, where they reside, ends up dead. With the motive and the killer still unknown, they will have to work together to unravel the truth: “While recording a podcast of their own to document the case, the three unravel the complex secrets of the building that go back years. Perhaps even more explosive are the lies they tell each other. Soon, the endangered trio realize a killer may be living among them as they scramble to unravel the growing clues before it’s too late.
In the second season:
“It ingeniously twists its whodunit structure into our main characters: after solving the murder of neighbor Tim Kono, Arconia’s trio of detectives soak up the glory and fame, until Arconia’s president of the board, Bunny (Jayne Houdyshell) is found dead, bloodied, while wearing an Only Murders sweatshirt, in Mabel’s apartment. The main suspects are hilariously obvious.”
In the United States, the transmission is carried out by Hulu and Disney +, while in Mexico and the rest of Latin America, the series is available through Star +.
The season 3 premiere date has not been revealed yet.
