Oscar Isaac y Jacob Elord take the center of a new official poster for the long-awaited film Frankenstein by the Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.

The project of Netflix prepares for his premiere in some theaters from the United States (October 17) and Mexico (October 23), unveiling the poster that shows Isaac as Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein, and Elordi as Frankenstein's Monster.

The rest of the main cast includes Mia Goth (X, Pearl), in dual roles as Elizabeth Lavenza, Victor's fiancée, and Claire Frankenstein, Victor's mother, Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds) as Heinrich Harlander, Felix Kammerer (All Quiet on the Western Front) as William Frankenstein, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The First Omen) in an “essential” cameo as Professor Krempe, Lars Mikkelsen (The Witcher), David Bradley (Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio) y Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth).

In this new adaptation of Mary Shelley's 1818 literary classic, Isaac's Dr. Victor Frankenstein, He is a brilliant but selfish scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment. which ultimately leads to the ruin of both the creator and his tragic creation. Victor's relationship with his father is different from Shelley's.

Frankenstein celebrated its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where it received a pleasant reception from the critics present. It was later screened at the Telluride Film Festival and TIFF.

Del Toro has dedicated more than a decade to this adaptation that he calls a passion project. In Tudum, del Toro described it in the following way:

“The culmination of a journey that occupied most of my life. Monsters have become my personal belief system. There are traces of Frankenstein in my films.”

Filming was carried out under the working title Prodigal Father. Del Toro is the screenwriter, director and producer.

THE DETAILS OF THE PLOT:

The story will largely revolve around the classic tale from the novel by Mary Shelley from 1818, adapted countless times over the decades.

“Set in Eastern Europe in the 19th century, the story of Dr. Pretorious, who needs to locate Frankenstein's monster, believed to have died in a fire forty years earlier, in order to continue Dr. Frankenstein's experiments.”

Del Toro previously shared about this project:

“It's a movie I've wanted to make for 50 years since I saw the first Frankenstein. I had an epiphany, and it's basically a movie. That took a lot of growing up and a lot of tools that I couldn't have done 10 years ago. Now I'm brave enough or crazy enough or something, and we're going to tackle it.”

The film marks a new collaboration between del Toro and the renowned composer Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, Pinocchio) who is taking charge of the soundtrack.
