The audience will have to wait a few more months to see Dune: Part Two of Denis Villeneuvesince it is being reported that Legendary y Warner Bros. have decided to postpone the theatrical release of the highly anticipated sequel.

The Deadline medium makes it official that Dune 2 it will leave behind its release on November 3, 2023 to be released on March 15, 2024, due to the strike of the Actors Union (SAG-AFTRA). The new date will also include functions in IMAX format.

Dune: Part Two is taking the previous release date of Godzilla X Kong: The New Empireand this in turn is moved to April 12, 2024. This date was previously reserved for the animated film Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim of New Line and WB, which was postponed to December 13, 2024.

The outlet reports that WB is not expected to make changes to its December 2023 release schedule. Wonka (December 15), Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 20) and The Color Purple (December 25th). These three productions are expected to keep their release dates.

Other high-profile productions such as The Marvels from Disney and Marvel Studios, currently with a premiere set for November 10, 2023, will be postponed. Villeneuve, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick are the producers. Executive producers include Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Brian Herbert, Byron Merrit, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein, and John Harrison, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.

Dune It was conceived to be made in two parts, since Frank Herbert’s literary material is so rich and extensive that one film was not enough to adequately cover all the stories, and the themes addressed in it, such as religion, politics, and the environment. .

Dune arrived in US theaters on October 22, 2021, also having a simultaneous release in HBO Max. At the domestic box office, it collected $40.1 million dollars, becoming the best hybrid release of 2021, and the best domestic release in Villeneuve’s career.
