
Very far (Gerard Oms, 2025)
Very solid debut in the feature film of a director who has also written the story. The behavioral narration It focuses on Mario Casas, whose character chooses to stay in Utrech when his football club returns after the game. The survival of the emigrant, the difficulty of the language, the labor exploitation, the stumbling blocks with the friends, the exit of the closet … are configuring what is actually the portrait of a young man who wants to live his life and overcome the prejudices in 2008. It seemed a bit slow because the story is thin, very tight to the character, without development of other types or dramatic turns.
A crazy funeral (Manuel Gómez Pereira, 2025)
Although the “remake” makes more sense when it comes to comedy – so that the comic of the actors and their voices do not easily translate – in this piece Gomez Pereira moves, scene to the scene, the British comedy “a death funeral”, which is almost twenty years old. The actors are fine and the movie entertains, but there are no good “blows” and will forget about leaving the cinema.
Jim's story (Arnaud Larrieu y Jean Marie Larrieu, 2024)
Aymeric is good people, but a pringeado who has had to go through jail. A good day, a former co -worker, Florence, who is pregnant and ends together: Aymeric becomes a father, but enters crisis when the biological father appears. This drama with a certain fable bias speaks successfully of emotional commitments in life beyond logics or rights; and of the fragility of children, always innocent in the face of adult weavers. It is a small film and perhaps does not deepen the issues, but its viewing is convincing.
In just over an hour this piece is written and directed by a director who in the last three years has released five films. With a very particular humor with which the bottom firming does not tune, except, partially in Cause Beautly!here it does metafiction with some actors who play an encounter for the girl presenting her father to an alleged boyfriend who is no longer for her who accompanies a friend who wants a chance. It is articulated in the three moments of the classic drama, and the central takes place in a road bar that has the name of the title. In the third act the actors leave their characters to discuss reality and fiction, in addition to showing their true face. The only joke – the nervous waiter for his role as extra in a movie – is stretched and the alleged comedy falls very short. Expendable.
