On May 16, 2025, the cinemas billboard is renewed with very varied proposals that invite new looks and styles. Among the premieres stand out Centaurs of the night by Marc Reje, a black and white fable on blindness and inner light; What remains of youthe debut of Gala Gracia that explores the duel and family roots in the Pyrenees; After summer from Yolanda Centeno, a drama about the family and affective ties beyond biological ties; The Sleeper. The lost caravaggio by Álvaro Longoria, a documentary that unravels the world of art and the discovery of a masterpiece; Ernest Cole: Lost and Found by Raoul Peck, who rescues the figure of Apartheid's South African photographer; and Bonhoeffer: The spy by Todd Komarnicki, a biopic about the Lutheran pastor who challenged Nazism.

Centaurs of the night (Marc Recha, 2024)

A paused race of a dozen feature films over three decades reveals Marc Rejal's personality, a filmmaker who seeks art beyond the formulas of the show. Now he does it with a filmly filmed in black and white and 4: 3 format that, at times, seems heiress of Buñuel or Orson Welles. Some blind make an excursion to a monastery with monks and nuns also blind. The figure with greater prominence is Álex, a photographer who seems to simulate his blindness and, above all, reveal against her with her sexual fantasies. The metaphor of inner light and shadows as evil, so common in spirituality, play their role in a story that excites in many moments, especially when the blind knows the sculptures of tombs by touch. Marc rejected his “essay on blindness” with blind and provocative, Buñuelianos. A movie to discover.

What remains of you (Gala Gracia, 2025)

What remains of you (Gala Gracia, 2025)

The first feature film of Gala Gracia shows style and mastery of cinematographic language -singularly in music- in addition to giving up truth in the minimum history it tells. Sara's story is that of a young woman who has to make decisions in life amid the wounds for her father's death; Specifically, the dilemma of developing the vocation as a composer or being faithful to the family roots of the People of the Pyrenees must be resolved. A greater dramatic development of the script had given more packaging to a work that captivates its sincerity, but that runs out in Sara's character, without others interesting us. He looks good and reconciles with rural cinema, so scarce in our cinematography. (Refrain the spectators with sheep allergy).

After summer (Yolanda Centeno, 2025)

After summer (Yolanda Centeno, 2025)

The reformulations of the family and the different modalities of sentimental relations lead to situations such as those raised in this story with exemplary value to raise the issue: how to respect the child's right to maintain the link with their father's couple when it breaks; And, also, how to respect the right of a non -biological mother to continue her emotional relationship with whom, in every way, she has been her son. The debutante Yolanda Centeno has a style, films a convincing story, reduces the dialogues to the fundamental and takes advantage of Alexandra Jiménez, an unnecessarily encailed actress in the comedy. But it is a correct movie, without surprises.

The Sleeper. The lost caravaggio (Allvaro Ávaro, 2025)

The Sleeper. The Lost Caravaggio (Álvaro Longoria, 2025)

Suggestive tour with “thriller” rhythm on The story of a Here is a man attributed to the Ribera School and put at auction for 1500 euros that was an exceptional caravaggioright now exposed in the Prado Museum. In addition to rigoring the entire process of restoration and management of the marching, the film illustrates us about the painting of Italian and the uses and customs of the art market, a fascinating world with sometimes opposed roles between galleries, museums and art historians. It is worth it.

Ernest Cole: Lost and Found (Raoul Peck, 2024)

Ernest Cole: Lost and Found (Raoul Peck, 2024)

We have a few seasons with excellent documentaries about photographers and photographers: artists who educate our gaze, teach us new realities and, in any case, in their works there is a world to discover. For me it was unknown Ernest Cole, considered the photographer of apartheidthat variant of criminal Nazism that institutionalized racism in South Africa for several decades. The film has the double interest of the photographer's life – in the last years in which he leaves the profession – and his Magna work House of Bondageand the reality of apartheid testimonized in thousands of photos. Very esteemed.

Bonhoeffer: The spy (Todd Komarnicki, 2024)
