To prepare your pot meat, use the ingredients below and follow the instructions in the preparation method.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of meat (preferably chuck, muscle, brisket or other meat suitable for cooking)

  • 2 medium onions, cut into rings

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 large carrots, cut into thick slices

  • 2 ripe tomatoes, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon of sugar (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Boiling water

Directions

  • In a large pot or pressure cooker, heat the oil over medium heat. 
    Add the onions and garlic and sauté until golden.
  • Add meat to pan and brown on all sides. 
    Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the carrots, tomatoes, bay leaves, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and sugar (optional). 
    Mix well.
  • Cover meat with boiling water until submerged.
  • If using a pressure cooker, cover and cook over medium-high heat for about 40 minutes, or according to your pressure cooker’s instructions. 
    If using a regular pot, cover and cook over low heat for approximately 2 hours, or until the meat is tender and falls apart easily.
  • Check seasoning and adjust if necessary.
  • If desired, remove the meat from the pan and slice. 
    Then return the meat to the pan with the sauce.
  • Cook for a few more minutes so that the meat absorbs the flavor of the sauce.
  • Serve the hot pot meat accompanied by rice, boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes.
