“A sister has all the answers. The other one has no idea.”
This is the catchphrase with the 20th Century Studios presents the comedy Quiz Ladystarring Awkwafina (The Farewell, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) y Sandra Oh (Killing Eve, Grey’s Anatomy).
The plot follows the protagonists playing two distant sisters who must team up after years of not being together.
The film will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, to be released later exclusively on Hulu on November 3. In Mexico and the rest of the Latin American territory, it will be launched by Star+. The first official poster can be found at the end of this note.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“In Quiz Lady, Anne (Awkwafina), a bright but uptight, game-show-obsessed young woman, and her estranged, disastrous sister Jenny (Sandra Oh), must work together to help cover their mother’s gambling debts. When Anne’s beloved dog is kidnapped, they go on a wild cross-country journey to get the money the only way they know how: by making Anne a true pageant champion.”
The comedy also has a cast made up of Jason Schwartzman (Asteroid City), Holland Taylor (The Chair, The Morning Show), Tony Hale (Veep) y Will Ferrell (Barbie).
Jessica Yu (13 Reasons Why, Citadel) directs the script written by Jen D’Angelo (Workaholics, Young Rock).
Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, Maggie Haskins, Itay Reiss, Jen D’Angelo, Awkwafina and Sandra Oh produce the feature, with Alex Brown and Erika Hampson serving as executive producers.
