Last August, the streamer Max (before HBO Max), announced the renewal of And Just Like Thatrevival of Sex and the City to a third season.
And one of the regular members who has been confirmed not to return for the next season is, Sarah Ramirezwho played non-binary stand-up comedian Che Díaz, love interest of Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) via Variety.
Che introduced himself as one of the members of Carrie Bradshaw's podcast (Sarah Jessica Parker), who upon meeting Miranda, fell in love with her, thus causing the end of Miranda and Steve's marriage (David Eigenberg). At the end of season 1, Miranda and Che moved to Los Angeles where Che would film a pilot. In the second season, the relationship quickly deteriorated, and they broke up. Che was the object of ridicule since her introduction in the first season, “and just like that,” the most divisive character with the most memes, is leaving.
In an interview with Variety in the summer of 2022, Ramírez said he had tried to avoid online comments: “Other people's opinions on a character are not something I can allow into my process. I choose what I get, right? “That's the beauty of being an adult: I don't have to get it all!”
In recent times, Ramírez has demonstrated his support for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, something that is speculated to be the reason for a dismissal from And Just Like That, due to his views. If this is true, it would not be a surprise, since Hollywood has proven to have no tolerance for celebrities showing support for anything that could remotely be interpreted as “pro-Palestine.” Let us remember that Melissa Barrera was fired from Scream 7 for the same reason.
There are others who believe that Che's career in the series has simply come to its conclusion.
Filming of the third season of And Just Like That will be made later this year, with a premiere planned for 2025 on MAX.
