The seventh installment of the popular slasher saga Scream, It will be a family affair on many levels.
First, Kevin Williamsonscreenwriter of the original 1996 installment, and the sequels Scream 2 y Scream 4, for the first time in the franchise, he takes the reins of the project from the director's chair.
For Williamson, Scream 7, It is “personal”, as described in the behind-the-scenes footage shared by Paramount Pictures three weeks before the slasher premieres in theaters.
Williamson conducted Scream 7 from a script he co-wrote with Guy Busick (Scream 5, Scream 6), with a history of James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick.
Neve Campbell makes her long-awaited return as Scream Queen Sidney Prescott, remembering that she was absent from the sixth film due to a salary dispute. By the way, in the newly released behind-the-scenes footage it is revealed that Sidney has a new last name, Evans, her married name, although if we're being real, for fans of Screamwill always be Sidney Prescott.
Along with Campbell, other members return such as Courteney Cox –the only one to appear in all seven films–, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brownwhile David Arquette, Matthew Lillard y Scott Foley They return as Dewey, Stu, and Roman Bridger, respectively, and in some way, after they all met San Pedro in different installments of the saga.
In the new sequel, Sidney must face Ghostface once again, after the masked villain threatens what he loves most: his daughter, Tatum (played by Isabel May of 1883), whose name is a nod to Sidney's best friend in the original installment, Tatum Riley (played by Rose McGowan).

On having Williamson direct for the first time, Campbell shares:
“I always thought it would be a wonderful thing to have Kevin Williamson direct. He knows these characters and these movies better than anyone.”
Williamson adds:
“As the writer of the first, second and fourth installment, it's very personal to me, and I got to work with my hero, Wes Craven, who taught me everything.
People ask me all the time, 'Have you always wanted to direct a Scream movie?' And I answer, 'Yes, with all my heart.' Now here we are, in part seven, and everything has led up to this.

The slasher saga was launched in 1996 with the original installment Screamto later launch the sequels Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000) y Scream 4 (2011), all directed by the beloved Wes Craven, who died in August 2015 due to a brain tumor.
The franchise was relaunched in 2022 with a fifth installment titled simply Screamwhich featured the return of the original trio, Campbell, Cox and Arquette, and new directors. Its success ensured a new sequel, and in March 2023 it was released Scream VIwhich broke the record as the franchise's highest-grosser at the domestic box office with $108.1 million and more than $168 million worldwide.
The six films have a combined global box office of more than $908 million.
Paramount is planning the theatrical release of Scream 7 for him February 26, 2026 in Mexicoand the February 27 in the United States.
