The one described as a “contemporary horror thriller”, The Invitation of the filmmaker Jessica M. Thompson and Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems, is now set to expand its theatrical release, where it debuted last Friday. August 26, 2022.

And in case you missed it, we tell you that the Motion Picture Association (MPA) awarded him the PG-13 rating by (via Bloody Disgusting):

“Horror, violent content, strong language, sexual content, and partial nudity.”

The argument of The Invitation centers on “the story of Evie, a young woman who is courted and smitten, only to realize there is a gothic conspiracy afoot.”

  • EYE TO THE DATA: Said gothic conspiracy involves drinking blood, something Dracula-esque. The film was previously titled The Bride.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“After the death of her mother and having no other known relatives, Evie (Nathalie Emmanuel) takes a DNA test…and discovers a long-lost cousin she never knew she had. Invited by her new family to a lavish wedding in the English countryside, she is initially seduced by the sexy aristocrat host.

“But Evie is soon thrown into a nightmare of survival as she uncovers twisted secrets in her family’s history and the disturbing intentions behind her sinful generosity.”

Blair Butler (Polaroid, Helstrom) wrote the original screenplay, with subsequent supervision by director Thompson.

The cast is made up Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones, Fast and Furious), Thomas Doherty (Gossip Girl), Hugh Skinner, Sean Pertwee (Gotham), Courtney Taylor, Alana Boden (Uncharted), y Stephanie Corneliussen (Legion, Mr. Robot).
