Focus Features debuted on first official trailer of Sense and Sensibilitya new adaptation of the classic novel by Jane Austen.
The film is directed by Georgia Oakley (Blue Jean), and starring Daisy Edgar-Jones (Twisters, Normal People) playing Elinor Dashwood, one of three sisters who are forced to leave the family farm with their widowed mother and move to a humble cottage. There, they experience love and heartbreak for the first time.
The teaser offers panning shots and nostalgic looks that look like a faithful adaptation of Austen's novel. Take a look at the end of the note.

Based on the novel by Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility is the story of sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood and their journey to find love and overcome heartbreak and poverty with grace and maturity.
The main cast also includes Esmé Creed-Miles (Sandman) como Marianne Dashwood, Catherine Balfe (Outlander) as Mrs. Dashwood, Frank Dillane (The Essex Serpent) como John Willoughby, Herbert Nordrum like Colonel Brandon, Bodhi Rae Lookout (Hamnet) as Margaret Dashwood, George MacKay (1917) as Edward Ferraris, and Fiona Shaw (Echo Valley, Bad Sisters) like Mrs. Jennings.
Sense and Sensibility is produced by Working Title Films (Love Actually, Bridget Jones’ Diary, Pride & Prejudice, Emma). Producers are Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, India Flint, and Jo Wallet. The executive producers are Angela Moneke, and Thea Paulett.
Austen's novel, Sense and Sensibilityhas been adapted to film before, including the acclaimed 1995 Oscar-winning version, directed by Ang Lee, starring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet, with a screenplay adapted by Thompson, which won him the Oscar for best screenplay.
Focus Features will release Sense and Sensibilty in US theaters on October 16. With date to be confirmed for Latin America.
