Ingredients

  • 2 cups of cornmeal

  • 2 cups of sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1/2 cup oil

  • 1 tablespoon powdered yeast

  • A bit of salt

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a cake tin with margarine and sprinkle with cornmeal or flour.
  • In a large bowl, mix cornmeal and sugar.
  • Add the eggs and mix well until you get a homogeneous mass.
  • Then add the milk and oil to the mixture and continue stirring until fully incorporated.
  • Add the baking powder and a pinch of salt to the dough, mixing gently until evenly distributed.
  • Pour the dough into the prepared form.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 to 40 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly before unmolding.
  • After unmolding, you can sprinkle some icing sugar over the top of the cake if you wish.
  • Cut the cake into pieces and serve!
