'Task' will crossover with 'Mare of Easttown': Julianne Nicholson returns as Lori Ross

The recently announced addition to the cast of the second season of the original series of HBO, Taskconfirms important news:

Task will crossover with Mare of Easttown.

Julianne Nicholson has joined the second season of the HBO crime drama, reprising her Emmy-winning role as Lori Ross, the mother of three who lives in Easttown, in Mare of Easttown (via Variety).

Although until now Task was not directly related to Mare of Easttownboth series are from the creator and showrunner Brad Ingelsby and take place in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, with Mark Ruffalo y Tom Pelphreyin leading roles.

The first season follows an FBI agent (Ruffalo) who leads a task force to put an end to a series of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting father (Pelphrey). A first synopsis of the second season tells us:

“Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) takes the reins of a new task force, but the deeper the operation goes, the harder it is to identify the target.”

In addition to Ruffalo, Nicholson joins the already announced cast of the second season: Mahershala Ali, Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis, Aminah Nieves y Edgar Ramírez.

the drama Mare of Easttownpremiered on HBO in 2021, with Kate Winslet in the lead role playing Mariane “Mare” Sheehan, a police detective who investigates the murder of a teenage mother while her own life falls apart. Nicholson played Lori, Mare's best friend, whose son becomes involved in the murder investigation.

It is currently unclear how Nicholson's character will fit into the plot of Task.

Both Ingelsby, Winslet, and director Craig Zobel have had conversations about making a second season of Mare of Easttownwhich was originally conceived as a single-season story (miniseries). Winslet expressed in recent months that cameras could begin rolling on a second season sometime in 2027.

Nicholson has won two Emmy Awards, one for Taskand the other for his guest starring role on the HBO comedy, Hacks. He also recently starred in the series Paradisefrom Hulu, and Dope Girls from the BBC. His other credits include Winning Time: Rise of the Laker Dynasty, The Outsider, Boardwalk Empire and the next movie The Riders.
