The final episode, titled “In God We Trust,” which included a fateful ending, was watched by a large audience of 8.7 million viewers in the United States during its first three days of availability. The figure represents a slight increase over the season three premiere, which was watched by 8.5 million viewers in its first three days.

However, the final episode of Euphoria It was not the most watched episode of the final season. The crown belongs to the third episode, which reached 8.9 million viewers in three days.

The final season has reached 25 million viewers worldwide –to date–, which represents an increase of 17% compared to the 21.5 million reached by the second season, according to HBO reports.

By the way, HBO measures a series' audience during the 90 days after its premiere, so this number will continue to grow for approximately six more weeks.

The series from the creator, screenwriter and director, Sam Levinson, followed “a group of high school students as they grapple with drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship.” In the third season, after a five-year time jump, “they face the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption and the problem of evil.”

The main cast included Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie Maude Apatow, Colman Domingo, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, Nika King, Martha Kelly, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, Storm Reid, Barbie Ferreira, Austin Abrams, Javon Walton, Angus Cloud y Eric Dane.

Levinson stated on several occasions, writing “every season as if it were the last.” According to information from Levinson himself, the story he wrote for the final season was strongly influenced by Cloud's death, which occurred in July 2023 due to an accidental overdose “from a lethal mixture of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine and benzodiazepines,” according to the Alameda County Coroner's Office.

The latest episodes of Euphoriaportrayed the deaths of several of the main characters, one of them in particular, related to addiction.

Levinson explained about that on the New York Times podcast after the end of Euphoria:

“After the death of [Angus Cloud]I had to rethink the script and I thought: 'Nowadays you can't tell a story about addiction without showing its real consequences.'. Most people don't get a second chance.. Fentanyl can kill you in an instant. It wasn't like when I was young; you could buy pills on the street and, even if you had a bad trip or something, nothing happened. It is something that deeply affects many people in this country. So it seemed the most responsible thing to do”.

Levinson executive produced alongside Ravi Nandan, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, Will Greenfield, Ashley Levinson, Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein and Zendaya (in season three).
