Disney has been exploring ideas to revive the adventure franchise Pirates of the Caribbeanor as it is known in our market, Pirates of the Caribbean. The last delivery, Dead Men Tell No Taleswas released in theaters in the summer of 2017, and plans for a follow-up film have been in the works ever since.

According to the producer of the saga, Jerry Bruckheimer, Pirates of the Caribbean will undergo a reboot. This is what he revealed in an interview with ComicBook:

“It's hard to know. You don't know, you really don't know. You don't know how they come together. You just don't know. Because with Top Gun [otra de las franquicias que produce] you have an actor [Tom Cruise] which is iconic and brilliant. And how many films does he make before making [otra] Top Gun, I can't tell you. But we're going to reboot Pirates, so it's easier to put together because you don't have to wait for certain actors.

Bruckheimer, producer of Top Gunrefers to the wait that is coming before being able to film the next installment of said franchise, which will be a direct sequel to the blockbuster Top Gun: Maverickthis is because Cruise has several commitments in his work agenda that he must attend to prior to his commitment to Top Gun 3. That is why the producer reveals that it will be much easier to reboot Pirates of the Caribbeanwhere you will start from scratch.

There was previously talk about a Pirates movie starring Margot Robbie. The audience does have to wait to find out the direction this reboot will take.

Ted Elliot, screenwriter of the saga, and Craig Mazin, creator of The Last of Us y Chernobylworked on a story for an upcoming Pirates, which was put on hold in the wake of the 2023 film and TV industry strikes. Mazin described the script as “strange”:

“We pitched it and thought there's no way they'd buy it, it's too weird. And they did! And then we wrote a fantastic script and the strike happened and everyone was waiting.”
