The acclaimed miniseries The Night Manager Has obtained green light for a second season! seven years after its launch on AMC (in 2016). According to Deadline reports, Actor Tom Hiddleston will reprise his starring role as Jonathan Pine.
Filming will take place this year with a script by David Farr, adapted from the novel by John le Carré. Filming will take place in London and South America under the working title: Steelworks.
Like the first season, the second season will be co-produced by the BBC, although it will change houses, since while the predecessor was broadcast by AMC, the new season will be streamed via Prime Video.
In the first season, Hiddleston played hotel manager Jonathan Pine, who falls in love with local playboy Freddie Hamid’s mistress, only to have her murdered when she learns too much about Hamid’s family and their dealings with arms dealer Richard Roper. (Hugh Laurie). Several years later, the British intelligence officer (Olivia Colman) recruits Pine to get revenge on Roper. Pine infiltrates Roper’s inner circle and becomes involved with Roper’s lover, Jed (Elizabeth Debicki) while playing a deadly game of deception with the cunning and charismatic arms dealer. Towards the end of the season, Roper was arrested by Egyptian authorities.
The second season will begin with Pine learning that Roper passed away two years ago, and that a new and more dangerous task awaits him..
The miniseries earned applause and recognition from critics and audiences upon its release. It won two Emmy Awards for its direction and score, and earned Emmy nominations for Hiddleston, Laurie, and Colman.
