Next May we will have the return of strangers to the cinema, with the premiere of The Strangers: Chapter 1the first installment of a trilogy inspired by the horror franchise The Strangers of Lionsgate.
The original 2008 film directed by Bryan Bertino, delighted audiences with the presence of three masked killers, Dollface, Pin-Up Girl and Man in the Mask, who tormented a couple staying in an isolated house in a forest his return from a wedding. This film is considered a cult classic. In 2018, the sequel was released The Strangers: Prey at Night, from director Johannes Roberts. On this occasion, the three masked men hunted a family of four.
In September 2022, Lionsgate partners with director Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger, Deep Blue Sea, Die Hard 2) to launch the aforementioned trilogy based on the cult film, with the return of… yes, the three masked men!
With the premiere of Chapter 1 set in theaters for on May 17, 2024the audience is wondering when we can expect the release of the sequels The Strangers: Chapter 2 y The Strangers: Chapter 3.
Producer Courtney Solomon announced during her appearance at WonderCon this month that ¡The Strangers: Chapter 2 It will be released in the fall of this year!
Also on the panel was Harlin, who wanted to assure the audience that, although the promotional material for Chapter 1 seems to suggest that the first installment would be a remake of the original 2008 film, this is NOT the case. The start could be the same, but it charts its own path (via Bloody Disgusting).
On another occasion, Harlin stated that the aftermath, Chapter 2 y Chapter 3will expand the story in new and unexpected ways:
“Without trying to trivialize it or explain it too much, the second and third films are an exploration of where it came from. [todo]. More than anything, they are an exploration of what could happen to a person, in this case, a young woman, who is the victim of such senseless violence. What effect does that have on you mentally and physically, and what is your journey after that? It's an exploration of that more than anything. And I think we'll answer a lot of the questions that fans of the original have and then go much further. At the end of the third movie, there really are more questions than answers.
Chapter 1 focuses on the leading couple played by Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale, Jane) y Froy Gutierrez (Cruel Summer, Hocus Pocus 2, Teen Wolf), giving life to Maya and Ryan, a newly engaged couple, who ventures on a road trip. When their car breaks down, they are forced to spend the night at a secluded Airbnb in the woods, where three masked strangers terrorize and attack them from dusk to dawn, without warning or reason.
SYNOPSIS:
A young couple drives across the country toward a new beginning; Unfortunately, they have no choice but to stop at an isolated Airbnb in Oregon and endure a night of terror against three masked strangers.
