The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is celebrating very good news.
The animated sequel to Universal Pictures, Nintendo e Illumination Studios, has surpassed $600 million dollars at the global box officeafter two weeks in theaters, with a global total of $628.7 million dollars as of Monday, April 13.
The daily box office is as follows:
- $308.1 mdd, domestic box office
- $320.6 mdd international box office
- $628.7 million global box office
During the just-concluded weekend, it accumulated $69 million at the US box office, a figure lower than the $92 million collected by the first installment, The Super Mario Bros. Movieduring its second week in theaters, however, the sequel remains on track to surpass one billion at the box office, becoming the first film of 2026 to do so.
The first installment revolutionized the box office upon its release in 2023, positioning itself as the third highest-grossing animated film of all time at the global box office with $1.36 billion, behind number two, Inside Out 2 ($1,698 million), and the absolute animated champion, Ne Zha 2 ($2,150 million). The film earned a net profit of $559 million after all subsequent revenues.

Returning voice actors include Chris Pratt like Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy like Princess Peach, Charlie Day like Luigi, Jack Black like Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key like Toad and Kevin Michael Richardson such as Kamek.
New additions to the cast include Oscar winner, Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) as Princess Rosalina, Benny Safdie (Oppenheimer) as Bowser Jr., Luis Guzman (Wednesday) as Wart, the main villain of the video game Super Mario Bros. 2, Issa Rae (Insecure, Barbie) as Honey Queen, and Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Yoshi.
By the way, in this new adventure, Yoshi joins Mario, Luigi and Toad, after being rescued from the Kingdom of Sands. His return was teased in the post-credits scene of The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023).
Aaron Horvath y Michael Jelenic they return as directors, while Matthew Fogel returns as screenwriter.
The music is provided by Brian Tylermaking his return as a composer.
The producers are Chris Meleandri of Illumination, and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo. The film is co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo, and will be released globally in theaters by Universal.
