Of American Horror Story a American Crime Storyand now to American Sports Story. This is the versatility of Ryan Murphy, which will present to the audience the story of Aaron Hernandezthe New England Patriots tight end and convicted murderer.

The original series of FXtitled American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandezdramatizes the tortuous journey of Hernandez, an NCAA and NFL star who, three seasons into his professional football career, was arrested, convicted of murder, and later found dead by suicide in his jail cell in 2017. He was 27.

The series follows Hernandez from his high school and college days to his stardom with the Patriots catching passes from Tom Brady alongside Rob Gronkowski.

Josh Rivera (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, West Side Story) takes on the leading role, playing Hernandez.

The rest of the cast includes Patrick Schwarzenegger (Gen V, The Staircase) like Tim Tebow, Tammy Blanchard (The Invitation, Into the Woods) like Terri Hernandez and Lindsay Mendez (All Rise) as Tanya Singleton. The series also stars actors portraying Tom Brady, Gronk, Robert Kraft, Urban Meyer and other NCAA/NFL icons.

FX presented the first trailer for American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandezwhich shows Hernandez dealing with the pressures of his family and the world around him; drugs, violence, and sex, while he finds peace on the football field.
