Trombone Evolution is a concert of music for trombone ensemble that challenges, triumphs and entertains.
This concert features six professional trombonists – Douglas Cross, Tim Sutton, Mark Close, John Gluyas, Ben Zilber and Grant Sinclair (originally from Invercargill) – who are part of Auckland-based trombone octet, Aucktet. Formed in 2014, Aucktet creates entertaining and unique concert experiences that aim to redefine an audience’s preconception of brass instruments.
Works that will be performed in the concert include: Bolos by Folke Rabe, Toccata by Frescobaldi, Etude in the style of Bruckner by Enrique Crespo, Back to the Fair (work based on Scarborough Fair) by Reichenbach, Tuba Mirum from Mozart’s Requiem, Suite from ‘Maria de Buenos Aires’ by Piazzolla, and No More Blues by Jobim.
Thanks to Wilson and Gayle Fraser of Invercargill for making this concert possible.
