The afternoon of this Saturday, February 15, the Scriptwriter union (WGA; Writers Guild of America) delivered the WGA 2025 Awardthat annually award the best original and adapted script in cinema, and the best script in the television category.
The ceremonies are held from both coasts (west and east). The west coast had the comedian, screenwriter and actor Joel Kim Booster (Search Party, Fire Island) as host, and the east coast gala with Roy Wood Jr. as host.
The guild chose the dramatic comedy Aor of Sean Baker (Director and screenwriter), as The winner for the best original scriptresulting in another great impulse for the independent cinema film for the final votes of the Oscar award.
Last weekend, in a period of 24 hours, Aor De Baker and the Neon study won the Critics Choice for Best Film, the DGA Prize of the Director Union for Best Director, and the PGA Awards 2025 DEL Producers Union al Best feature film of the year 2024.
The WGA Award to best adapted script was for Nickel Boysthe historical drama of RAMELL ROSS (Director and coguionist) and Joslyn Barnes (coguionist). The plot focuses on two African -American children sent to an abusive reform school in Florida in the 60s. It is inspired by the reform school of the same state, called Dozier School for Boys, known for the abusive treatment of students. His study is Amazon MGM Studios.
