In a thrilling decision played in Seville, the teams tied 2-2 in normal time, taking the match to penalties. At La Cartuja stadium, goalkeeper Marrero shone when he saved two shots and was decisive for the Basque team's title, which won its fourth Copa del Rey.

Wesley was listed for the match, remained on the bench and was not called upon by coach Pellegrino Matarazzo. Still, the title marks the striker's first victory since leaving Corinthians.

Before the Saudi club's onslaught, Timão received, at the beginning of 2024, an offer of €18 million (around R$100 million at the time) from West Ham, from England. Fenerbahçe, from Türkiye, also investigated the striker, but the talks did not progress.
