The filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and the actress Emma Stone, are preparing their third collaboration in cinema. Lanthimos' next film which is titled Kinds of Kindnessis a anthology science fictionwhich has just announced its release date theatrical release for June 21, 2024 with Searchlight Pictures as distributor, Deadline revealed.
Lanthimos and Stone previously collaborated on the Oscar-winning films, The Favouritey Poor Things. The latter earned Stone her second Oscar for best actress in a leading role.
The main cast is made up of Stone (Poor Things, La La Land), Jesse Plemons (Civil War, The Power of the Dog), Willem Dafoe (Poor Things, The Northman), Margaret Qualley (The Maid, Poor Things), Hong Chau (The Whale, The Menu), Joe Alwyn (The Favourite, Stars at Noon), Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81, Jurassic World: Dominion), y Hunter Schafer (Euphoria, Cuckoo).
Lanthimos dirige Kinds of Kindness from a script he co-wrote with Efthimis Filippou (The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer).
Lanthimos, Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, and Kasia Malipan produce the feature film.
During the Golden Globes last January, the filmmaker described the project like this:
“There are three contemporary stories, and there is a core of actors, seven in total, who play a character in each story. So, they will play three different characters”
His previous film, Poor Things – even in some theaters in our country – was nominated for 11 Oscars, taking home four of them, including best leading actress for Stone, best makeup and hair, costume design and production design. The film has accumulated $108.7 million dollars in the global box office.
