The big question on the minds of many is, when can we enjoy the series? The doubt has been cleared up by Casey Bloys, the CEO of HBO and Max, who during an interview from Paris, on the occasion of the launch of Max in France and Belgium, told Variety about what awaits the audience in Max in the next 18 months:
“One of the advantages that I think we have as a company, leaving aside HBO for a second, is all intellectual property of Warner Bros. So after “House of the Dragon,” the next big series ahead of us will be “Penguin” with Colin Farrell. That comes out of Matt Reeves' “The Batman” and it's fantastic. Just as “Peacemaker” came out of James Gunn’s “Suicide Squad,” it’s a very good example of what you can do. That will be in September.
“And after that, I don't know if we've set a date yet, but later in the fall we'll have the 'Dune' prequel series that's about the origins of the Bene Gesserit. And then going into the 25th, we'll have Stephen King's “IT.” Warner Bros. has made two films; We also have a prequel series planned. [Welcome to Derry]. And then, obviously, the “Harry Potter” series, later on. “We are still in the process of working with the writers.”
The cast of the prequel series includes Skarsgard (IT), Taylour Paige (Zola), Jovan Adepo (Watchmen), Chris Chalk (Perry Mason), James Remar (Oppenheimer), as protagonists, with Madeleine Stowe (Revenge), y Stephen Rider (Daredevil) in a recurring guest role and a regular role, respectively.
The official description generatesl of the series is as follows:
“Set in the world of Stephen King's 'It' universe, 'Welcome to Derry' is based on King's novel 'It' and expands on the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films 'It' and 'It Chapter Two.' '”.
The exact details of the plot are currently being kept under lock and key in some sewer, although this is what was previously discussed:
“The plot of the prequel series will begin in the year 1960.in the time before the events of IT: Part One (2017), the film based on the horror novel by Stephen King.”
“Also The plot is said to include the origin story of Pennywise the Clown, as well as the dawn of the 27 year curse that haunts small town Maine.”
Warner Bros. Television It is the study that supports the project. Warner Bros. is the studio behind the Muschietti film adaptations, IT: Part One (2017), IT: Part Two (2019), which became a commercial success for the studio, accumulating more than $1 billion at the global box office. Prior to its arrival on the big screen, the novel IT was adapted for the small screen in 1990, in ABC miniseries format, with Tim Curry playing Pennywise.
