Apple TV+ revealed to the audience the first official trailer for the Apple Original movie, The Instigatorsan action comedy from the director Doug Limanstarring Matt Damon y Casey Affleck.
The plot, set in Boston, follows Rory (Damon), a down-on-his-luck dad who reluctantly teams up with ex-con Cobby (Affleck) to steal funds from a corrupt politician. But everything goes wrong and the duo must evade capture not only by the police but also by corrupt bureaucrats and underground crime lords. While on the run, they manage to convince Rory's therapist (Hong Chau) to help them with their escape.
In addition to Damon, Affleck and Chau (Kinds of Kindness, The Whale), the cast is made up Jack Harlow, Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man: No Way Home), Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Poker Face), Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible), Paul Walter Hauser (Richard Jewell, Cobra Kai), Michael Stuhlbarg (Your Honor, Call Me By Your Name) y Don DiPeta (Sugar, Green Book).
Liman directs the script he co-wrote with Affleck and Chuck MacLean.
Ben Affleck, Damon, John Graham, Jeff Robinov, and Alison Winter are producers, with Celia D. Costas and Kevin Halloran serving as executive producers.
This is the most recent on-screen collaboration between Damon and the youngest Affleck, after having been part of projects such as Oppenheimer, Interstellarthe trilogy Ocean’s Eleveny Good Will Hunting.
Liman is the director of films like Swingers, The Bourne Identity, Mr & Mrs Smith, Edge of Tomorrow, Chaos Walkingand more recently, the remake Road House which became a hit upon its premiere on Prime Video.
The Instigators will have a limited release in theaters starting August 2, 2024. He August 9 will launch globally on Apple TV+.
