After having its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in 2023, where it emerged to applause, the true crime film, Woman of the Hourrevealed its first official teaser trailer.

The plot tells the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcala, who was in the middle of a murder spree when he appeared on, participated in, and won the dating television show The Dating Game.

The feature film marks the directorial debut of Anna Kendrickwho also stars in the film as Cheryl Bradshaw, one of the contestants on the dating show, where she meets Alcala (played by Daniel Zovatto).

The teaser shows Cheryl going on a date with the serial killer, while at the same time terrifying images of him and his victims are shown.

Bradshaw receives a warning from an assistant before his debut in The Dating Game: “No matter what words you use, the question behind the question remains the same… which one of you will hurt me?”

Kendrick directs the script for Ian MacAllister McDonald (Some Freaks).

The cast is led by Kendrick, and is joined by Zovatto (Don’t Breathe), Nicolette Robinson (One Night in Miami, Chicago Med), Tony Hale (Veep), Jedidiah Goodacre (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Kelley Jakle (franchise Pitch Perfect), Max Lloyd-Jones (When Calls the Heart), Geoff Gustafson (Wilderness).

True crime producers include Kendrick, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Stephen Crawford, Andrew Deane, JD Lifshitz.

Woman of the Hour It was acquired by Netflix after its premiere at TIFF in September 2023, for distribution in the United States, and other international markets, including Mexico and the rest of Latin America.

Its premiere was set on the streamer for October 10, 2024.
