Ingredients

  • 1 large cassava

  • Oil for frying

  • Salt to taste

Directions

  • Peel the cassava and wash it well to remove any dirt.
  • Cut the cassava into pieces approximately 5-7 centimeters long.
  • In a large pot, add enough water to cover the cassava pieces.
  • Add a pinch of salt to the water and bring to a boil over high heat.
  • When the water is boiling, add the cassava pieces.
  • Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the cassava is tender when pierced with a fork.
  • Remove the cassava pieces from the water and let them drain in a colander or on paper towels to remove excess water.
  • In a deep skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat.
  • When the oil is hot, add the cassava pieces little by little, carefully, to avoid splashing.
  • Fry the cassava pieces until golden and crispy, stirring occasionally to ensure they fry evenly.
  • Remove the fried cassava pieces from the pan and place them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • Season with salt to taste while they are still hot.
  • Serve the fried cassava hot as a side dish with other dishes or as a snack. If you prefer, you can serve it with your favorite sauces, such as seasoned mayonnaise, ketchup or hot sauce.
