The streamer's most recent audience hit stars Kristen Bell (The Good Place, Bad Moms) y Adam Brody (The O.C., American Fiction).
The renewal brings with it a modification, and according to reports from Deadline, the series created by Erin Foster (Daddy Issues), fichó a Jenny Conner (Girls) y Bruce Eric Kaplan as the new showrunners and executive producers of the second season. The duo will take the reins of the writers/screenwriters room that was launched a couple of weeks ago.
Nora Silver, president of Jenni Konner Productions, joins as executive producer. Erin Foster, Sara Foster, Bell, Steven Levitan and Oly Obst continue as executive producers.
The agreements with Konner, Kaplan and Silver were finalized before the premiere of Nobody Wants This on September 26. It debuted at number two on Netflix's Top Ten in its first weekend, and rose to number one in its first full week with 26.2 million views in its first 11 days on the streamer.
The plot of Nobody wants thiscenters on the unexpected relationship between a roguish rabbi (Brody) and an irascible, agnostic woman (Bell).
Foster said in a press release:
“Create Nobody Wants This It will forever be a highlight of my career. The incredible cast, crew, producers, and executives made this series become what it is today, and experiencing viewers' reactions to this series now that it's out in the world has been more than I could have dreamed of. “I am very lucky to be able to continue this story and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, of whom I have been a fan since Girls… Justice, since healthy relationships are the most romantic.”
The priority for Foster, who drew on her personal experience for the series, remains writing for the series, which reflects her story and her voice.
Konner and Kaplan served as executive producers on the HBO hit, Girlswhere Konner also served as co-showrunner alongside series creator Lena Dunham. Konner and Kaplan created and executive produced another HBO series, Camping. This is their first collaboration since Girls.
In addition to Bell and Brody, the cast is made up of Justine Lupe (Succession, Luckiest Girl Alive), Timothy Simons (Veep), Jackie Tohn (GLOW, The Good Place), Sherry Cola (Good Trouble, Joy Ride), Tovah Feldshuh (Armaggedon’s Time, Scenes from a Marriage), y Emily Arlook (Grown-Ish, You People), D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place, Barry), Stephanie Faracy (Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates), y Stephen Tobolowsky (The Goldbergs, One Day at a Time).
