The history of the two compilations Under the bridge It is as simple as it is sensational: in 2022 (and then in 2024, in the second volume) Amelia Fletcher and Rob Pursy played on the market through her Skepwax seal a tribute to the cradle of both, the mythical Sarah Records.
Quickly explaining the duo's 'indie cradle' bid, Amelia and Rob played in Heavenly, Hence its umbilical connection with the Bristol label. And for the tribute, instead of simply withdrawing from classic songs released by Sarah during her period of activity – 1987 to 1995 – not only invited bands who were part of their cast and then followed active but also new projects of old seal partners to present new tracks. The result?
In both discs, what could be pure nostalgia becomes a great sample of how alive the spirit of independence follows/Make yourself the label that has become a symbol not only of indie pop but cultural resistance.
The opening of the first album with Luxembourgh Signal (which alongside Jetstream Pony is one of the new musical faces of the great Beth Arzy, once Aberdeen) At the end of the second with SEPIASOUND (Solo project of former BlueBoy Paul Stewart) are several known names and others to know in a dive away from the surface than that is roughly presented today as an alternative/indie/which is worth it. I would expect no less from students trained at the school where they studied.
Thank you, Amelia and Rob. And thank you very much, Sarah Records ❤
