Here's How Focus Features and Universal Pictures Describe the Sci-Fi Comedy Bugoniain the most recent trailer that announces the start of pre-sale in the United States.
Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan is the musical accompaniment to the Final trader of the writer and director's most recent project Yorgos lanthimosand english language remake from the 2003 South Korean comedy, Save the Green Planet!, (Títutulus Original Jigureul Jikyeora!).
In Bugonia, Emma Stone plays an influential CEO of a major pharmaceutical corporationwhat is kidnapped by two friends obsessed with conspiracy theoriesand those who are convinced that she is an alien who intends to destroy the Earth.
The trailer, which also shows the different first reactions from specialized criticsis available at the end of the note.
In addition to Stone, the cast includes Jesse Plemons (Civil War, Kinds of Kindness), playing one of the friends obsessed with conspiracy theories, Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias (Tires, Let’s Start a Cult), Parvinder Shergilly Alicia Silverstone (Y2K, Reptile).
Bugonia marks Lanthimos' fourth collaboration with Stone. The actress starred in the filmmaker's previous films, Kinds of Kindness, The Favouriteand the one that earned her her second Oscar for best actress, Poor Things.
Stone's commitment to her latest role led her to shave your head completelyan action that was performed in real time in front of the camera during the recording of one of the scenes of the feature film.
With this, Stone joins a small group of actresses who have also shaved their heads in front of the camera, as is the case with Demi Moore in Jane, Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta, Anne Hathaway in Les Miserablesy Sanaa Lathan in Nappily Ever After.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
Two young people obsessed with conspiracy theories kidnap the powerful CEO of a large company, convinced that she is an alien bent on destroying planet Earth.
Lanthimos directs the film from the script written by Will Tracy (The Regime, The Menu, Succession).
Stone and Lanthimos produce the feature film, along with Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, Miky Lee, Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, and executive producer Jerry Kyoungboum.
Focus Features plans the premiere of Bugonia for October 24, 2025 under limited release, followed by a wide release on October 31. In Mexico and the rest of the Latin American region, it will be distributed through Universal Pictures to starting November 13.
