HBO revealed the first official poster for A Knight of the Seven Kingdomsa new prequel series and spinoff from the world of Game of Thronesfacing his premiere scheduled for January 2026.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms It is an adaptation of the novel series Tales of Dunk and Egg of George R. R. Martinwhich currently consists of The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword y The Mystery Knight.

Martin co-created the series with Ira Parkerwho is also the showrunner. Parker was part of the writing team for the first season of House of the Dragon.

The first seasonof 6 episodes, adapts the first book, The Hedge Knight.

The story is set in the same universe what Game of Thrones y House of the Dragon.

When the spinoff premieres, audiences will instantly notice a big difference between the new series and GOT y HOTD: does not have an opening title sequence.

Instead of animation that takes us around key points in Westeros accompanied by an orchestra, the latest spinoff will be presented with a simple title card and medieval typography between the opening action of each episode. From here you are notified: We are facing something different from what was seen in the two previous series.something more in line with the scale of the short novels on which it is based.

And it is that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms does not share the massive degree of GoT nor of HOTD. It is a short, character-driven story.

About this, Parker explains to EW:

“All decisions fell to Dunk, trying to capture his personality in every aspect of the series, including the opening sequence. The opening sequences of the original series [Game of Thrones] and House of Dragon are great, epic and incredible. Ramin Djawadi's soundtrack is orchestral, imposing and beautiful. That's not really Dunk's modus operandi. It is simple, straightforward and direct. It doesn't have much ostentation”.

The media shared the following official promotional image:

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms takes place a century before the events of GoT and a century after the events of HOTD. The story will follow the adventures of the knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg across Westeros..

In this era, 50 years after the death of the last dragon, “nobody thinks about magic”explains the showrunner

“This could basically be 14th century Britain. It is a story of tough, tough and brave medieval knights, cold with a very light and hopeful touch.. It is a wonderful place. In this series, we are starting from the bottom. “We are not with the lords and ladies, the kings and queens.”

So there you have it. We will not see dragons in this spinoff.

The cast is made up Peter Claffey como Dunk/Ser Duncan the Tall, Dexter Sol Ansell like Egg, Find Bennett like Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford like Tanselle, and Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor “Brakspear” Targaryen.

Executive producers are Martin, Parker, Sarah Bradshaw, Owen Harris, Ryan Condal, and Vincent Gerardis.

Scheduled for release in January 2026 on HBO and HBO Max, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere the same year as the third and penultimate season of House of the Dragon –in production right now–.

The first season concluded filming in September 2024. The series is scheduled to have lasting three seasons.
