The cast of The Social Reckoning continues to take shape.

The sequel to the acclaimed biopic The Social Networkby the screenwriter and director Aaron Sorkinand the study Sony Picturesannounced new signings.

The cast adds to Billy Magnussen (Lilo & Stitch), Betty Gilpin (The Hunt), Gbenga Akinnagbe (A House of Dynamite), Anna Lambe (True Detective: Night Country), Nelson Franklin, Aidan Laprete, Kelley Pereira, Portia Doubleday (Mr. Robot), Patrick Fischler (American Fiction), Joey Brooks (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Sierra Capri (On My Block), y Tehmina Sunny (Partner Track), Deadline reported.

Sorkin, screenwriter of the original installment, will be the screenwriter and director of the new installment. The script was inspired by a series of articles that Jeff Horwitz wrote for The Wall Street Journal, known as The Facebook Files.

All of them join the previously announced protagonists, Mikey Madison (Anora), Jeremy Strong (Succession), Jeremy Allen White (The Bear), Bill Burr (The King of Staten Island), y Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners, Lovecraft Country).

Madison will play Frances Haugen, the data engineer turned whistleblower who went to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Wall Street Journal with her information; Strong as Mark Zuckerberg, and White as former WSJ tech reporter Jeff Horowitz, who leads the leak of Facebook files.

Described as a companion piece to The Social NetworkSorkin's script tells the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to undertake a dangerous journey that ends up revealing the social network's best-kept secrets.

The acclaimed 2010 film focused on the creation of Facebook, now known as Meta.

As we can see, the sequel instead will explore the story behind The Wall Street Journal's The Facebook Filesan explosive series of articles published in October 2021 that They exposed the inner workings of the largest social network in the world and multiple damage that this cause.
