Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan will reunite at the Oscars in tribute to Rob Reiner during “In Memoriam” segment

Billy Crystal y Me Ryanthe co-stars of the classic rom-com, When Harry Met Sallywill have a meeting on the stage of Hollywood's highest-profile awards ceremony: the Oscars.

Crystal and Ryan will form part of a tribute to the legendary filmmaker Rob Reinerduring the segment In Memoriam of the Oscars 2026. Reiner directed the aforementioned When Harry Met Sallyconsidered one of the greatest romantic comedies.

Variety details that Crystal will share a few words about Reinerwhile Ryan and other stars of the many films created by Reiner will be on stage. It will mark a new meeting between Crystal and Ryan; both presented the Oscar for Best Picture at the 2025 ceremony, which was awarded to Anora.

These developments are added to the report of Barbra Streisand in conversations to sing during the same In Memoriam segment in honor of his friend and co-star of The Way We WereRobert Redford, who died last September.

Reiner, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at their home in Brentwood, California. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later reported that they died from multiple sharp object injuries. His son, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder. Nick pleaded not guilty on February 23. The 32-year-old appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court and only spoke once, agreeing to a court date of April 29. He faces two counts of aggravated murder that could carry the death penalty or life in prison without parole if convicted.

The 98th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O'Brien, will be held on March 15 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. The ceremony will be televised live on ABC and will be broadcast on Hulu in the United States, and on TNT and HBO Max in Latin America.
