Jesse Williams joins the 5th season of 'The Morning Show'

The fifth season of the drama The Morning Showoriginal de Apple TVcontinues to add talent to its cast.

The most recent addition is Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) who will play Vernon, UBN's new news chief, known for his provocative nature and his talent for capturing and holding the public's attention.

Williams joins a leading cast led by Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie, Jon Hammand the recently announced for season five, Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom).

Best known for playing Dr. Jackson Avery in the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, Williams also starred in the series Coastal Hotel from Prime Video, Only Murders in the Building from Hulu, and movies like The Cabin in the Woods, Your Place or Miney The Great Lillian Hall.

The fourth season of The Morning Show It took place in the spring of 2024, almost two years after the events of the third. Following the merger of UBA and NBN, the newsroom must grapple with new responsibilities, ulterior motives and the elusive nature of the truth in a polarized America. In a world rife with deepfakes, conspiracy theories and corporate cover-ups, who can be trusted? And how do you know what is real?

The Apple TV series revolves around the world of morning television shows and New York media. In the early seasons, Alex (Aniston) and Bradley (Witherspoon) gave viewers a heartbreaking takedown of the morning news show, and UBA, the broadcast network for which they work, exposing a workplace culture rife with misogyny, toxicity and sexual misconduct.

Real-world headlines such as the pandemic and the events of January 6 have also been explored.

The project is based in part on an original idea by Michael Ellenberg of Media Res, and in part, in the book written by Brian StelterCNN reporter, titled Top of the Morning. Kerry Ehrin developed the series.
