Man of Tomorrowthe sequel to Superman (2025), has added a new member to its cast.

According to Deadline reports, Matthew Lillardjoins the sequel in a role that has not yet been detailed.

Lillard is no stranger to franchising. It has been part of the horror saga Screamthe live-action franchise Scooby-Dooand more recently Five Night’s at Freddy’sand Marvel with the series Daredevil: Born Again.

Man of Tomorrow will mark a meeting between Lillard and James Gunnwho directed it in Scooby-Doo. Gunn is the writer, director, and producer of the sequel, in addition to being the co-president of DC Studios.

Lillard joins a cast that includes the returns of David Corenswet like the Man of Steel, Nicholas Hoult like Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan like Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo like Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio like Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced like Hawkgirl, Nathan Million como Guy Gardner, Lars Eidinger like Brainiac, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, a character he has played in Peacemaker, Creature Commandos y Superman.

Other new additions are Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) playing John Stewart/Green Lantern, a character who will debut in the upcoming HBO Max series, Lanternsy Adria Arjona (Blink Twice y Andor) playing warrior queen Máxima, in the character's debut in a DC live-action.

Gunn hinted at confirming the news with a photo of him and Lillard posted to his Instagram account on Wednesday, writing the following:

“Just hanging out with my old friend @matthewlillard for no particular reason.”

In Man of Tomorrow, The Man of Steel will team up with his adversary, Luthor, to face a much greater threat: the highly intelligent cosmic menace known as Brainiac..

Warner Bros. plans the theatrical release for July 9, 2027.
