The renewed DC universe, launched by the co-presidents of DC Studios at wB, James Gunn and Peter Safran, began in 2025 with the theatrical release of Supermanand continues this year with the premieres of Supergirl in June, Clayface in the fall, and the series of HBO Max and DC Studios, Lanternsbased on the comic Green Lantern.

Lanterns o Lanterns In our region, it is carried out by Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) y Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) as John Stewart and Hal Jordan, respectively.

The plot follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic police officers tasked with defending a specific realm of the cosmos from evil by using rings which grant a variety of superhuman powers. John and Hal are drawn into a dark Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in Nebraska.

Chris Mundy (Ozark), Damon Lindelof (Watchmen) y Tom Kingare the co-creators of the series.

On how they decided to approach it, Mundy explains to EW:

“We wanted to tell a realistic story, with several mysteries within it. What works in our favor is that it is a Green Lantern story. They can conjure anything from the ring. They travel off-planet. They have many other powers. We want to take advantage of everything that is good about the Green Lantern mythology, but at the same time, we wanted it to feel like a sophisticated mystery, a very emotional story about the characters.”

In the EW report, it is revealed that The story takes place in two periods: 2016 and 2026.

It begins in 2016, when a shooting occurs in the small rural town of Rushville, Nebraska. Hal Jordan, who has been watching the town from a distance for quite some time, is convinced that this is an extraterrestrial incident. However, the local authority, Sheriff Kerry (Kelly Macdonald), finds no evidence to support that claim.

“There's a family tension when it comes to jurisdiction,” Mundy describes. “It's not like between the FBI and the locals. It's the Lantern Corps and a local sheriff. That's our entry into that town and the mystery.”

“The main concern is that Hal is forced to train his own successor. John is the backup Green Lantern in case something happens to Hal. He's 'the old guard and the heir apparent,' Mundy notes. 'We explore that tension quite a bit in that early period.'
