Drew Hancock He already has his next film project in mind, and will continue on the path of terror.

The writer and director of one of the favorites of the genre of 2025, Companionstarts Seasonsfor which it has already been assured Lily James (Pam & Tommy) as the protagonist of the new thriller horror based on a viral short story about a couple who accidentally buys a haunted lot (via Deadline).

Hancock is the writer and director.

The film, formerly known as My Wife and I Bought a Ranch (My wife and I bought a ranch), arose from a viral post on the r/nosleep subreddita space for writers to publish short horror stories, written by Matt and Harrison Query. The story was later adapted into a complete novel and is now coming to the big screen.

The shared description of the film is as follows:

“Seasons tells the story of a couple who buy the ranch of their dreams, only to discover that the land is inhabited by ancestral spirits and that survival involves subjecting themselves to increasingly disturbing rituals with the change of the seasons.”

Producers are Shaw Levy and Dan Levine for 21 Laps, Jason Blum and Michael Clear for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, Scott Glassgold for 12:01 Films, and Dan Cohen.

21 Laps and Blumhouse Atomic Monster are the producers of the horror hit still in theaters, Backrooms, whose story was also based on a Reddit post that famously went viral.

James' most recent projects include the biographical drama Swipedthe acclaimed drama The Iron Clawel thriller Relayand dark comedy Greedy People. His participation in the horror genre is currently limited to satire Pride and Prejudice and Zombiesand the remake of Rebecca.
