Netflix developing 'The Lincoln Lawyer' spinoff starring Cobie Smulders

Netflix wants to extend the life of its successful series The Lincoln Lawyerand it already found a way: a spinoff.

The streamer has given green light for a spinoffwhich is found in its early stages of development and that will be starred by Cobie Smulders. According to reports from Deadline, the new television project would center on Smulders, reprising her role as Artemisia “Emi” Finch, Mickey Haller's half-sister (Manuel García-Rulfo). The character debuted in the final episode of the fourth season of The Lincoln Lawyerissued by the platform in February of this year.

After having aired its fourth season this year, The Lincoln Lawyer will return for a fifth and final season consisting of 10 episodes. The final season will be based on the novel Resurrection Walk of Michael Connelly. Filming concluded in mid-2026, and its premiere on the platform is expected in early or mid-2027, with an official date to be announced.

The series is created by David E. Kelley and developed by Ted Humphrey.

Connelly is another executive producer along with Ross Fineman, Barry Jossen, Tana Jamieson, Matthew J. Lieberman and Gladys Rodriguez. A+E Studios is the production company.
