Ahead of its presentation at the TIFF (Toronto Film Festival) market, the romantic comedy is announced Honeymoon/Funeralwhich will star Rebecca Ferguson (Dune: Part Three, Silo) y Greta Lee (Past Lives, The Morning Show).
Filming is already underway in London, under the direction of Nahnatchka Khan (Always Be My Maybe, Totally Killer). The script was written by Julia Bicknell (Yellowjackets, 13 Reasons Why, The Midnight Club), reports Deadline.
MRC is financing the project, with FilmNation in charge of sales, which have already begun prior to its presentation in the TIFF market.
The premise of the film is the following:
“Two women who meet on a flight from Los Angeles to London—one traveling alone on her honeymoon after being jilted by her girlfriend, and the other returning home for her mother's funeral—end up spending the week together.”
The project is already generating great expectations.
Bicknell produces the feature film alongside Khan and Jennifer Carreras.
This would mark a rare foray into the genre for both protagonists. The two were part of the cast of the feature film A House of Dynamite (2025) de Kathryn Bigelow.
Ferguson comes from the third season of Silo from Apple TV and Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Manwhile in December we will see it in theaters in Dune: Part Threethe closing of Denis Villeneuve's science fiction trilogy.
Lee, for his part, this year lent his voice to the animated sequel Toy Story 5and starred The Last House. At the end of 2025 he made the fourth season of The Morning Show on Apple TV; The series was renewed for a fifth and final season with a premiere scheduled for 2027. Lee had a breakout role in the acclaimed Past Lives (2023).
No official release date has been announced for Honeymoon/Funeralalthough it will probably occur around summer 2027.
