While Amazon MGM Studios defines who will be the next actor to play James Bond, the studio announces that Casino Royale will return to movie theaters in October around the world.

The favorite of many fans of the 007 superspy franchise will be re-released on the big screen to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of its release in theaters. Casino Royale It was the first James Bond film starring Daniel Craig.

Casino Royale will return to cinemas around the world from October 20.

The film began the stage that has defined James Bond so far in the 21st century. Craig reprized the role of Bond in four sequels: Quantum of Solace (2008), Heavy rain (2012), Spectre (2015) y No Time to Die (2021), which marked his farewell to the role.

These films gave Craig's version of Bond a complete narrative arc, and for an entire generation of fans, Craig's Bond—and his five-film career—have defined the saga. This poses something of a challenge for Amazon MGM Studios; The studio assumed full creative control of the James Bond franchise in February 2025, which until then had been in the hands of producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

The next Bond installment is being supervised by Amy Pascal (producer of Spider-Man) and David Heyman (producer of Harry Potter), with Denis Villeneuve at the helm of the project as director.

Although some rumors have emerged about who could be the next actor who would be playing James Bond in this new stage of the saga, the chosen one has not been officially announced.

In Casino Royale:

“James Bond (Daniel Craig) is going on his first mission as 00. Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) is a banker for the world's terrorists. He is participating in a poker game in Montenegro, where he must recover his money, to stay safe in the terrorist market.

The head of MI6, known simply as “M” (Dame Judi Dench) sends Bond, along with Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) to attend this game and prevent Le Chiffre from winning. Bond, using the help of Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), Rene Mathis (Giancarlo Giannini), and having Vesper pose as his partner, enters the most important poker game of his already dangerous career. But if Bond defeats Le Chiffre, will he and Vesper Lynd remain safe?”

Martin Campbell directed the script by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis.
