The dramatic thriller The Liberation of Bleecker Street, debuted its first official trailer.
Since its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, the film written and directed by Native Guy has been generating a lot of noise ahead of the start of the awards season, especially for the performance of its protagonist, Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age, The White Lotus).
In addition to Coon, the main cast includes Lily James (Relay, The Iron Claw), Tracy Letts (East of Eden, I Play Rocky), Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us), Jaime Ray Newman (The Hunting Wives), Odessa Young (Black Rabbit) y Sharon Taylor (The Terminal List).
In the plot, Coon plays Rita, a 1980s New Jersey housewife and Holocaust survivor, tormented by the weight of her past. After meeting a charismatic spiritual leader (James), he abandons his family to follow her to an all-female commune. When her daughters (Ramsey, Young) arrive to rescue her and end up being dragged into the group's world, Rita is forced to choose between the family she left behind and the life she believes can save her.
Letts plays Rita's husband.

Nattiv has said that the inspiration for the film came from life experience, due to an event that his grandmother had in a seminar, when he was just a child. She later found out that it was a cult, and that the grandmother had left the family. As an adult, he visited the cult in search of answers and found that the people involved in it had tried to “free” his grandmother from the trauma as a Holocaust survivor: “She had the courage to do something very unusual: leave her family, say goodbye to her daughters and her husband, go into the unknown and try to save herself,” Nattiv said.
The film's producers include Julia Lebedev, Roy Lee, Oren Moyerman, Guy Nattiv, Jaime Ray Newman, Steven Schneider and Eddie Vaisman. Executive producers are Daniel Bekerman, Jordan Hart, Neil Mathieson, Ben Ross, Kent Sanderson and Rami Yasin.
Bleecker Street has scheduled a limited release in theaters The Liberation —necessary to qualify for the Oscars—, which will begin this Friday, November 6 in New York and Los Angeles. The larger scale premiere is scheduled for January 8, 2027.
