“It is the end of the story we wanted to tell” – Cine3.com

We are a week away from the premiere of season 3 in Apple TV+ from the acclaimed and award-winning Apple Original series, Ted Lassostarring Jason Sudeikis as an American coach who moves to England to coach a Premier League soccer team, which is struggling to avoid relegation to the second division.

Although it has not yet been made official whether or not this will be the goodbye to the series, on previous occasions it has been suggested that this could be the final season, with Bill Lawrenceco-creator of the series with Sudeikis, and showrunner, saying in October 2021 that, “this story will end [en la tercera temporada] standalone, even if the show finds another story to tell and continues.”

These statements were later joined by those of Channing Dungey, CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group, who shared with ScreenRant that “the season finale ends beautifully. If that’s all we do in the Ted Lasso universe, I think the fans will be very happy and excited. But there is also a way to open a door. If we are lucky enough to do more, we can keep going.”

And now it’s Sudeikis himself, who, without making it official, also talks about a conclusion to the story. In an interview with Deadline he says:

“I mean, always [se puede hacer un] cameo, right? This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we hoped to tell, that we loved to tell. The fact that people want more and are curious beyond what they don’t even know yet, which is Season 3, is flattering. Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season have been released, they’ll be like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re good. We don’t need more, we have it’. But until that time comes, I’ll cherish curiosity beyond what we’ve found so far.”

On creating future spinoffs, Sudeikis comments:

“Yeah, I think we’ve set the table for all sorts of people…to be able to see the additional telling of these stories. Again, I can’t help but take the question as a compliment for what all of us who were working on the show have tried to do. It’s very nice that people even consider that because you never know what’s going to happen when you do things. The fact that people want more, even if it’s a different track, is lovely..”

season 3 of Ted Lasso will be released on Wednesday March 15, 2023.

“Newly promoted AFC Richmond face ridicule as media predictions put them bottom of the Premier League and Nate (Nick Mohammed), now hailed as the ‘wunderkind’, has gone to work for Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United. In the wake of Nate’s controversial departure from Richmond, Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) becomes an assistant coach alongside Beard (Brendan Hunt). Meanwhile, while Ted deals with the pressures at work, he continues to deal with his own personal problems at home; Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) concentrates on defeating Rupert; and Keeley (Juno Temple) navigates being the head of her own public relations agency. Things seem to be falling apart both on and off the pitch, but Team Lasso is ready to do their best anyway.

The acclaimed series has won multiple Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Actor (Sudeikis), Supporting Actor (Goldstein), Supporting Actress (Waddingham), Outstanding Directing; the SAG Award for Best Cast in a Comedy Series and Actor in a Comedy Series (Sudeikis), among many others.

Ted Lasso is based on a character that Sudeikis portrayed in a series of NB Sports Premier League promos. Sudeikis developed the series with Joe Kelly and Lawrence; Goldstein is one of the series writers and co-producer; Sudeikis is one of the executive producers.
