After the premieres of It Ends With Us, Reminders of Himy Regretting Youthe author Colleen Hoover will have other of his novels on the big screen.
This is because Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures have a film adaptation of Veritythe gothic and psychosexual thriller starring Anne Hathaway (The Odyssey), Dakota Johnson (Materialists) y Josh Hartnett (Trap).
This is Hoover's fourth novel to be adapted to film in the last two years. Verity is described in the line Rebecca y Gone Girl.
Looking ahead to the theatrical release set for October of this year, the studios share a new official poster, with which they give notice: tomorrow the first full trailer will be released.

In Verity: The shadow of a deceptionfor its title in our region, Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a novelist with financial difficulties who is hired to finish the latest book by best-selling author Verity Crawford, played by Hathaway, after an accident leaves her unable to complete it. While Lowen works on the project, he discovers a disturbing unfinished manuscript that raises questions about the mental stability of Verity, whose husband, Jeremy Crawford (Hartnett), is the one who hires Lowen to finish his novel.
The rest of the cast completes it Brady Wagner, Asel Swango (Power Book II: Ghost), Daniel Echevarria (Daredevil: Born Again), Ismael Cruz Cordova (The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power), y Michael Abbott Jr. (The Drama).
Michael Showalter (The Idea of You, serie The Dropout) directs the feature film with a script written by Nick Antosca (Channel Zero, The Act).
Producers are Antosca and Alex Hedlund of Eat the Cat, Showalter and Jordana Mollick of Semi-Formal Productions, Hathaway of Somewhere Pictures, Hoover and Shiny Penny Staey Sher of Heartbones Entertainment. Johnson executive produces alongside Lauren Levine.
Hoover's novel was published independently in 2018 and became a bestselling phenomenon, later acquired in 2021 by Grand Central Publishing. In 2023 alone it sold more than a million copies.
By the way, this is one of five film projects we'll be seeing Hathaway in this year. In April he released the psychosexual thriller, Mother Mary by David Lowery and A24; in May the sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2; right now we see it in The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan; This week the science fiction mystery premieres The End of Oak Street by David Robert Mitchell; and finally Verity October 2.
The devil works hard, but Anne Hathaway works harder.
