Ingredients
1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups (310g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups (255g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional for Decoration:
Frosting (vanilla or chocolate)
Sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, or candies
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round or square baking pan and line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set. Avoid overbaking to keep the cookie cake soft.
- Let the cookie cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, decorate with frosting, sprinkles, or additional chocolate chips as desired.
